What the project is trying to build
The goal is a persistent companion whose body, movement, animation, and caretaking behavior feel continuous and causally grounded. The presentation layer should reveal the simulation rather than substitute for it.
Persistent digital companion · Embodiment research
Can a digital companion feel grounded in a continuous body rather than a sequence of animations?
Companion Core is building a persistent digital companion whose movement, expression, and caretaking behavior remain grounded in a real embodied simulation rather than a collection of disconnected presentation tricks.

The Alpha50 candidate still has persistent organism state, append-only events, snapshots, backup and restore, typed memory, deterministic transition checks, sensor inventory, direct-care checks, and restart evidence. The latest review partially accepts the C03 repair of a restart regression and restores the exact branch-head regression set, but does not accept the candidate as a roadmap milestone.
The project has now moved from correcting the test path to asking whether remembered experience can actually change a later action. The next bounded work must prove four paired resident causal effects and one post-restart remembered-action difference through the real Godot body path. Richer development, failure independence, clean restore, governed sensors, target endurance, and product acceptance remain open.
Companion Core is an embodiment research project, not yet a finished autonomous companion, artificial lifeform, or general assistant.
